香港兆基創意書院於本年9月至12月，邀請了傳統花牌師傅黃乃忠先生擔任駐校民間藝術家，親身教授學生製作花牌的技巧，與學生分享花牌的故事和歷史，並帶領學生從傳統工藝的創作，檢視城市「發展」與文化保育的問題。

這次展覽展出學生對花牌進行的研究和創作，為香港設計大使「DETOUR 2009設計遊」的參與活動之一。學生的部份作品亦同時於「DETOUR 2009設計遊」的主要展覽場地中環舊荷李活道已婚警察宿舍中展出。此外，由學生與黃先生共同創作作品「花牌遊西九」，亦應邀參與「09香港深圳城市設計\建築雙城雙年展」在西九龍海濱長廊展出，通過傳統工藝表達對西九文化區發展的關注。

展覽以外，黃先生將聯同創意書院的學生舉行工作坊，講解和教授製作迷你花牌。

(A DETOUR 2009 Satellite Event)

Mr Wong Lai Chung, a local Fa Pai master takes a 3-month residency at HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity from September to December as a community artist.?With the residency, Mr Wong shares his story and craftsmanship of Fa Pai with the students, and leads the students to explore the dilemma between urban development and cultural conservation.

The exhibition showcases students’ researches and experiments with Fa Pai in the past few months at the Gallery of HKSC. It is a satellite event of “DETOUR 2009” and selected artworks are being exhibited at the Former Police Married Quarters on Hollywood Road, Central, anchor venue of “DETOUR 2009”.
Moreover, Mr Wong and HKSC students also co-created the work “Fa Pai Rides WKCD” to express their concerns towards the West Kowloon Cultural District. The artwork is displaying at the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade during the “2009 Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism \ Architecture”.

Apart from the exhibition, Mr Wong and HKSC students also jointly host workshops on making mini-Fa Pai for the interested public.
